"Carousel of Happiness" Project - Nederland, Colorado
Scott
Harrison, with help from many, has been restoring the Looff carousel
frame,
gears, machine parts. He
is also
replacing the
sweeps with new wood and building
new floor
sections with 115 year old Southern Yellow Pine.
Scott has also carved all new animals of his own design,
not trying to copy the carvings of the old masters.
In
early 2006 the "Carousel of
Happiness" was given a building site in the middle of town and
fundraising for a building
started soon after. The carousel will be housed
in a 12-sided polygon pavilion, closed in for year-round
operation. There will even be a gift
shop, event space and rest rooms.
